Our Mission
Preventing Domestic Sexual Violence
Grow Engage Read Imagine is a program from Safe Haven Ministries that uses children’s books as an effective method of violence prevention. We created a list of age-appropriate books for children and teens that explore alternatives to violence. Our carefully chosen books promote gender equity, leadership, respecting boundaries and community. These shared values help to reduce the impact of harm on youth and their families.
Our Goals
We Seek to:
- PROMOTE ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE
- BE INCLUSIVE OF MARGINALIZED VOICES
- EMPOWER GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN TO BE LEADERS IN THEIR COMMUNITY
- CHALLENGE SOCIAL NORMS THAT ACCEPT VIOLENCE
- TEACH YOUNG PEOPLE THE POWER OF THEIR VOICES
- GIVE CAREGIVERS AND PARENTS THE TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO FEEL EMPOWERED
