About
Gender Equity Reading Initiative (GERI) is a program from Safe Haven Ministries. GERI gives readers tools to handle difficult conversations, promotes healthy relationships and prevents violence.
Our Mission
The Gender Equity Reading Initiative is a program from Safe Haven Ministries that uses children’s books as an effective method of violence prevention. We created a list of age-appropriate books for children and teens that explore alternatives to violence. Our carefully chosen books promote gender equity, leadership, respecting boundaries and community. These shared values help to reduce the impact of harm on youth and their families.
Our Goals
GERI readers include pre-K through high school-aged youth. The books we choose to share are developmentally appropriate and rooted in child development theory.
The Gender Equity Reading Initiative uses books to heal, teach and empower. Find books about subjects such as healthy relationships, recognizing violence and more.
